WHO WE ARE
Friends of the Grand Connection is a grass-roots group of community members, businesses and organizational partners who came together in 2023 to support the development of a landmark bike/pedestrian bridge and linear park from downtown Bellevue, across I-405, to the Wilburton District and Eastrail. The Grand Connection, targeted for completion in late 2029, will provide the only I-405 crossing in Bellevue dedicated for use by pedestrians and cyclists, vastly increasing safety and improving the mobility experience of residents and visitors alike.
The group will serve as a leading project advocate, information resource and fundraising arm, working with the city of Bellevue and corporate partners to help deliver on the vision of this exciting initiative. Organizational Structure
Executive Committee – This is an 11-member group responsible for developing the organization’s strategy in helping drive the Grand Connection Crossing to completion in late 2029. This committee convenes regularly to track progress, discuss potential challenges, provide organizational direction and develop funding strategies.
Steering Committee – This is a broader group of community leaders who have diverse backgrounds and serve as an ad-hoc advisory group, a coalition of well-respected advocates and as liaisons expanding both the Crossing stakeholder network and potential funding resources.
Organizational Partners – A growing list of organizations from Bellevue and around the region that want to demonstrate support for the project and the positive impact it will have on our community.
